Detroit Connector FAQ

Who can ride the Detroit Connector?
University of Michigan faculty, staff, and students with a valid MCard are eligible to ride the Detroit Connector. These individuals may bring a guest, but must accompany the guest at all times during their travels. Please fill out the guest rider request form and allow two business days to assist the Connector staff in processing your request.

Do I need to make a reservation?
There is no reservation system for individuals. Service is on a first come, first serve basis. Riders are recommended to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. For groups larger than 10, requests should be sent to at least two weeks before the date of travel to ensure accommodations can be secured. The request must include the group’s association with the University, the purpose of travel, and preferred travel date(s)/times.

Does the Connector run every day?
The Connector generally runs Thursday – Sunday each week, however, it generally does not operate on holidays and academic breaks. Please visit the schedule page to confirm days and times and the academic calendar for official academic breaks.

Can I bring my bike on the bus?
You may bring your bike as long as there is designated storage space on the bus. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee it will always be available. However, plans are underway by the City of Detroit to initiate a Detroit Bike Share system in the spring of 2017. We will provide more information on this service when it becomes available.

Can the bus be held for me if I am running late to a stop?
Buses cannot be held at a stop beyond the scheduled departure time under any circumstance. Please remember to arrive at a stop at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

What if the bus leaves before its scheduled departure time or I have a question about the Connector that requires a more immediate response?
